Arjun Tendulkar, son of the legendary Indian
batsman Sachin Tendulkar, has come at the center of all media attention after
being selected for India under-19 squad that will tour Sri Lanka next month to
play two four-day and five one-day matches.
The 18-year-old Arjun has been picked
up for two four-day matches. The taller and thinner, unlike his father, is a
left-arm fast bowler and left-hand batsman. He was one of the 25 U-19
cricketers who were in Dharamsala training camp for a
month in April this year.
Father Sachin Tendulkar is very happy
for his son’s selection and according to him, this selection was an important
milestone in his son’s cricketing life. Australian left-arm pacer Mitchell
Starc and England all-rounder Ben Stokes are his role models.
Some people take to social media to raise
question about his selection in the U-19 squad. Some think that he got selected
for being the son of former Indian cricketer, Sachin Tendulkar, who is the most
admired sportsman in India. However, he has already earned praise from experts showing
his ability to perform well in junior cricket.
Playing for Cricketer's Club of India
against Hong Kong Cricket Club in a T20 match at the Bradman Oval, he made his
debut in a style in the Spirit of Cricket Global Challenge in Australia. He opened
with the bat and scored 48 runs off 27 balls while picked up four wickets in
four overs.
