Argentina
is one of the two most supported football teams in Bangladesh. Crazy supporters
go to any extent to demonstrate their love for the team. To show support to their
beloved team, they do not limit themselves in hoisting flag on the rooftop or
business organization or buying the team’s jersey. Some diehard fans even take
weird ways to show their love for the team. An example of this is Argentine Rickshaw in Bangladesh.
However,
seeing Bangladeshi supporters’ devotion towards the La Albiceleste (official
nickname of the Argentina national football team), an Argentine started an
online petition with a view to collecting signatures for the national team to
visit Bangladesh once again, but this time to play a friendly match with the
Tigers on their home ground after the World Cup.
The
petition was initiated on Wednesday by Matias Dell'Anno Irigoyen on change.org
and addressed to Argentine Football Association (AFA) President Claudio Chiqui
Tapia and Lionel Messi. This online appeal came to the attention after being
reported by La
Nacion, one of Argentina’s largest newspapers. Link of the online petition is
given below-
Earlier
in 2011, Argentina came to Bangladesh to play a friendly match against Nigeria,
a game which was witnessed by a crowd of around 20,000. Argentina bet Nigeria
3-1.
