Group
E includes Brazil, Switzerland, Costa Rica and Serbia. Out of four teams, only
top two performers will advance to the round of 16. It is difficult to predict
who among the four teams will qualify from this group as winners and runners-up.
Between June 17 and 27, six matches of this group will be played.
Brazil:
It
is expected that the second ranked team, Brazil, according to the latest FIFA
World ranking, will become one of the two top performers from group E. The
five-time World Cup winning team, who has been participating in the world’s
biggest football tournament since its inauguration in 1930, is one of the most
experienced contestants in this year’s FIFA World Cup. The Selecaos became the
first team to qualify for the tournament with four games left in hand.
Brazil
football team featuring a number of young players looks very balanced. This
team is coached by Adenor Leonardo Bacchi, formerly known as Tite, since mid
June 2016. Under his coaching, Brazil won nine consecutive games. He has successful
club career, leading Corinthians to their first Copa Libertadores title and a
second FIFA Club World Cup title in 2012.
Injury
of Brazilian Forward Neymar has become the main cause of concern for the Latin
American football team. However, the Paris Saint-Germain star is expecting that
he will be fit before the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He had sustained injury while
playing in the French Ligue 1 game against Marseille in February 2018. For this
reason, he had to go under surgery and has started his rehabilitation work for
his comeback.
Switzerland:
So,
the other three teams- Switzerland, Costa Rica, and Serbia- will take on each
other with the hope of becoming the group runners-up. Compared to other two teams,
Switzerland’s position in the FIFA World ranking is much better. So the sixth
seeded team will be considered the most probable team to advance to the round
of 16 from this group. Even their experience of playing in the World Cup will keep
them further ahead than their competitors in the race.
The
Schweizer Nati is making their 10th World Cup appearance. Out of which, they
made it to the quarterfinals on three occasions in 1934, 1938 and 1954. However,
securing ticket to the tournament was not so easy because they had to beat Northern
Ireland in the Russia 2018 playoffs. The Swiss team led by Vladimir Petkovic
has a number of quality players in their squad in Xherdan Shaqiri and Steven
Zuber.
Costa
Rica:
As
it is a game of football, there is no way that we can take other teams as
inferior. Anyone can make upset. We know that best teams play in the World Cup,
which is known as greatest show on earth. This time, the Central American
country is making their fourth appearance in the tournament. In the previous
version of the tournament, they showed their best performance reaching the
quarterfinals. Obviously, they will try to do the same in the 21st edition of the
World Cup.
Serbia:
The
35th ranked team Serbia is making their 11th FIFA World Cup appearance, their first
since 2010. Though they are not in their prime form, their confident
qualification- in which they lost only once- makes them a potential threat.
