The crop-field portrait of Bangabandhu set a new world record

An image of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Father of the Nation, on a crop field at Balenda village in Bhabanipur Union under Sherpur Upazila of Bogura district made its inclusion in the record book. This crop-field mosaic, which was made using green and purple-colored paddies, has got recognition by the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest crop-field mosaic. After the official declaration of Guinness World Records authority, the crop-field portrait titled “Shasyachitre Bangabandhu” has become the biggest art on a field in the world. It has also marked the year-long celebration of the birth centenary of the founder of Bangladesh. The people who got the entry of their names along with the crop-field portrait are AFM Bahauddin Nasim and KSM Mostafizur Rahman. It was possible thanks to a private company named National AgriCare Import and Export Limited who funded the ‘Bangabandhu in Crops Canvas’ project.

This almost 400-meter-long and 300-meter-wide crop-field mosaic has set a new world record after breaking the previous record set by China. To be more specific, this green canvas covers an area of 119,430.273sqm (1,285,536.75sqft), according to the latest Guinness World record. The size of the previous largest crop-field mosaic was 855,786 square feet, which was made in China in 2019.
