Ranbir
Kapoor-starrer Sanju, which was
released on 29 June, has caught media attention after earning Rs 34.75 crore on
its opening day. In terms of first day collection, it has broken the record held
by Salman Khan’s film Race 3, which
earned Rs 29.17 crore on Day 1 of its release. However, Ranbir Kapoor’s biopic has
so far become the highest opening day grosser of 2018.
Sanju, an Indian biographical
film, tells the life story of an Indian film actor named Sanjay Dutt. The actor’s
various stages of life have been portrayed in this film. The story was jointly
written by Rajkumar Hirani and Abhijat Joshi while directed by Hirani himself.
The
movie is the highest opener for both the actor Ranbir Kapoor and the director Rajkumar
Hirani. Hirani’s last movie PK, which
was acted by Aamir Khan, grossed Rs 26.63 crore on the opening day.
Sanju has been acclaimed
by the audience and the movie critics. Positive reviews given by ordinary
people and movie experts will create appeal to all people, irrespective of
social class and gender. Therefore, the movie is likely to make a tough
competition for Race 3. I will not be
surprised if the earnings of Race 3 become
slow due to the popularity of the recently released movie.
