Five Local Startups Have Won Grameenphone Accelerator in the Fifth Batch


Mobile operator, Grameenphone, has taken a special program named Accelerator to bring out local startups or initiatives since 2015.

They selected five local startups yesterday under this program. These selected startups will get facilities like funding or capital for operating business, place for work and various directions.

Grameenphone authority informed, Accelerator is such an innovative platform where startups of each batch are trained for four months by international and local experts. Entrepreneurs of selected startups get $15000 as seed fund against 8% share. Besides, they get an Amazon Web Services (AWS) credit worth $11,200 and workspace in GPHouse for four months. At this time, platforms are introduced to the potential investors.

In this four month-long program, participants can learn important things like term sheet, evaluation, financial modeling and branding. The market value of the assistance given to each company is around Tk. 65 lakh.

Kazi Mahbub Hassan, Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer (CSTO) of Grameenphone, said, “We have received around 1000 applications for participation in the fifth batch of Accelerator. Among these, only 35 initiatives were selected and entrepreneurs of these initiatives were invited to the boot camp. Of these, entrepreneurs of 15 initiatives got the chance to give presentation. From there, five initiatives were finally selected. These are- Search English, CWork Microjob, onuServer, Digital Manush and Parking Koi.”

Search English:
Among the selected initiatives, Search English is an English language learning platform. It is a Facebook-based initiative. It helps one million members to get rid of the fear of English through Facebook, website and online.

CWork Microjob:
CWork Microjob Limited is a cloud source-based micro job platform. There, employers get workers easily. CWork is on the seventh place as Bangladeshi app in Google playstore.

onuServer:
onuServer is an app. It turns Android-run mobile phones into small server and helps provide SMS and call-based services.

Digital Manush:
Digital Manush is a platform aimed at connecting service providers with potential clients, also known as lead generation platform. It is now working in Bangladesh and India.

Parking Koi:
Parking Koi is an initiative to find a parking place to keep the car. It helps drivers to find vacant parking space. Also, house owners can rent their parking space with this.

Companies of the previous batch of GP Accelerator coming from different sectors are now doing quite well. The values of these companies have been increased four times in the space of just six months. The total values of two of these twelve companies have already exceeded $5 million.
